The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries. You can expect to watch elephants, buffalos, wildebeests, eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, lot of hippos, crocodiles and often even leopards and prides of lion. There are also about 350 species of bird life to be discovered. Lunch will be taken as a packed lunch at one of the picturesque picnic sites around the park.
Selous Game Reserve is a spectacular game viewing and has superb African vistas. Located in southern Tanzania, a trip to this park allows you to learn in-depth knowledge about complex ecosystems and diverse creatures that are usually skimmed over in more crowded areas.
Itineraries
Day 1
Zanzibar to Selous
Depart from Zanzibar airport at 8:00am to Mtemere airstrip in Selous NP, arrive at 9:15am picked by our driver guide straight to the lodge for check-in. After check-in depart for Boat Safari along great Rufiji River to discover more wild life. On the way to the lodge for lunch, you'll visit the village to get experience of life style of the locals. Lunch will be provided at the lodge and resting for a while. At 16:00 depart for the evening game drive to discover the animals in the Selous NP from 16:00 to 18:00 overnight will spent at the African Safari Lodge.Day 2
Full Day Game Drive then Back to Zanzibar
Early checkout from the lodge and depart for full day game drive to explore all the animals in the Selous NP. Lunch box shall provided during the trip. Then straight to Mtemere airstrip to catch your flight back to Zanzibar from 15:30 from Selous NP and arrive Zanzibar at 17:30.- Taxi from and back to the hotel
